How does WCMS Alliance benefit me?  Inspiring, educational, and entertaining programs; an introduction
to the medical community; and most of all, friends who understand the joys and challenges in being a medical family.

Does WCMS Alliance have organized groups? Interest Groups include a monthly Book Club; a Breakfast group of retired
couples (ASPIRE); Keeping in Touch Socially (KITS) – an endeavor to keep in touch with members who are homebound or
need transportation to our meetings; and Service with an Attitude of Gratitude (SWAG) – volunteer service.

Is WCMS Alliance family friendly?  Yes.

As a paying member, how often do I need to attend meetings?
Not necessary, but we hope you can attend some gatherings and get acquainted with other members.

How does WCMS Alliance serve the community? We offer annual educational health and well-being seminars for the community.
Some organizations benefiting from our fundraisers in the past have included the Poe Center for Health Education, Filling in Gaps of Wake County (FIGS), Women’s Center of Wake County, NAMI NC, Open Door Clinic, and Alliance Medical Ministry. Our SWAG Interest Group, Service with an Attitude of Gratitude, offers community volunteer service opportunities to members and their families. In 2019-2020, we dedicated the NCMSA Community Health Fund.   Interested and worthy charities may apply on our webiste for grants to be awarded every year.

What is the Community Health Fund?

The Community Health Fund, a Restricted Fund, has been established to encourage Alliance members who wish to coordinate a new Alliance health-related project or to support a specific need of an existing project that benefits a community need in Wake County. Alliance members who are actively involved in other community organizations are encouraged to submit a request for funds and have the opportunity to promote awareness and recruit additional interested members for short-term or long-term involvement in other health-related community organizations.

How often does WCMS Alliance have fundraisers?   Once a year.

My obligation with the fundraiser?  No obligation, besides your annual dues, but opportunities are available to help with the event.

And the funds raised?  All funds raised go to the Community Health Fund.

How does WCMS Alliance identify the grant recipients?
The WCMSA Executive Committee reviews all grant applications and presents the applications to the WCMSA Board for final approval.

Do join us for a cup of coffee or tea and feel the fellowship - even though we come from diverse backgrounds and many countries,
we celebrate and grow together, with the thread that brought us together: The Universal Bond that medical families share.
